Six Moons

I have been a mother for six moons, and am celebrating the transformation! In the hours before my real labour started I drew some pictures to connect with my body and my baby, like I had read about in Birthing From Within. I wrote the words 'New Moon, New Mother', and Elijah was born into my arms about 12 hours later as the new moon was shining on us.

So it is with great pleasure that I reflect on the six moon cycles that have passed. I am pleased to have nourished Elijah entirely from my own milk, and that there has been no need for medications or chemicals in his environment. I look at his strong little body with glee to think that he is made from me!

The 1400 or so nappies we have changed, washed and dried are lost in my memory. I find myself focussing on how many times we've laughed together, layed in bed together, played in the bath together and generally goo-ed and gaa-ed at our miracle of a baby. I am greatly blessed to be the caretaker of this special soul, and am certain that it is Elijah who is raising me, rather than the other way round.
