Creative Persistence

Just in the nick of time, the beanie was finished last night ready for this frosty morning. You might remember that this hat had a shaky beginning. On the fourth time of casting on something miraculous happened and I just got it! I now present to you my first ever garment knitted entirely on circular needles (and the first of my knitting Dadda Avocado has ever worn). Best of all I made it! Handmade is so special and unique, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. In this case, its also silky and cosy on a cold head.

The yarn is Malabrigo Rios Playa and Cascade Silver Grey 8401 both from ZigoZago. I'm so pleased with the choice of wool, the colours work perfectly with work clothes or casual and the yarn is very silky to wear. The pattern is this botanic hat which I found on Ravelry, and was very easy to follow once I got over my twisting needles issues! The hat is a snug fit, I guess that's the design and my tight (sometimes tense) kitting. I love that it is completely reversible.

Please be encouraged to persevere, persist, keep-on, dream big and challenge yourself with handmade projects. What better way to teach our children about patience and the value of our possessions than to make some of them ourselves. Now I need another project on my needles - soon I'll be calling myself a knitter ;)
